The Basics

ADDRESS: 5628 US 26, Dubois, WY

LOCATION: Just southeast of the town of Dubois

LAST VISIT: 2021

Solitude RV Park, just outside of Dubois, Wyoming is one of our all-time favorites!
The sites are enormous and have full hookups. It's a little different than the average commercial campground... there isn't an office building or staff on-site, and things are very spread out. Please note that while they don't have an office building on-site, the staff is very friendly and quick to respond if you call them.

The campground is adjacent to BLM land, so you can walk out of your camper and be within 100 yards or so of hiking trails that wind through the beautiful colors and rock formations of the badlands.

The campground has the best wifi we've ever experienced when traveling. We had some problems with the water pressure, but it was easy to work around - we just filled up the tank and ran from the tank.

This was just such a spectacular location and setup! There is only one minor drawback - there aren't laundry facilities, so if you have a longer term stay planned, you'll need to use the laundromat in town. Solitude RV Park has a big building available that you can use for repairs on equipment (dirt bikes, snowmobiles, etc.), and we wish they'd throw a couple washers and dryers in there.

If they did have laundry equipment in the maintenance building, I think we could easily spend a couple of weeks there enjoying the spacious campsite, great wifi, and nearby hiking trails, without needing to drive anywhere the entire time!

Our Opinion

I usually use this part of the web page to tell you if we'd go back. In this case, we are absolutely positive that we'll be going back, and we'll be staying longer the next time! This is probably one of our top two favorite campgrounds of all time. There are not many places where you can have that much elbow room AND have great wifi.

Things to See and Do

There are too many things to do in and around Dubois to mention them all.
Here are a few we have enjoyed:

Dubois Badlands
The BLM land can be accessed right from the campground, and it's beautiful!

National Museum of Military Vehicles
This museum houses a private collection of nearly 500 fully restored military vehicles.
The vehicles are displayed in the most impressive museum exhibits I have ever seen.
Do not miss this one!
